At the heart of Informal’s
software products is its core, proprietary, and extremely powerful
Communications Engine, known as “VNA-2”
VNA-2 ties together:
a)
any number of PDAs (e.g. Pocket PCs, Palms, Smartphones)
b)
any number of remote PCs (Windows, Macintosh, Linux)
c)
any number of remote servers
d)
as well as underlying databases
e)
or other devices (e.g. RFID or barcode scanners)
all via:
f)
wireless (e.g. wireless Ethernet – 802.11b, 802.11g,
Bluetooth, GSM, GPRS, IrDA)
g)
or wired (e.g. serial RS232, USB, FireWire, Ethernet)
Informal has developed on
top of this physical network infrastructure a powerful yet
lightweight real-time streaming protocol, known as LDF, which it
utilizes for its Electronic Annotation, RFID, and other products.
LDF is a generalized and
extensible packet-based Real Time Data Streaming and Command &
Control protocol, which is used to communicate and transfer any sort
of data in real time.
VNA-2 is
Multi-Client/Multi-Server based, and can extend over merely local
peer-to-peer connections, Intranets, or over the Internet. |
