Informal has developed
unique and proprietary software and hardware RFID technology.
RFID, which stands for
“Radio Frequency IDentification”, is an exciting new technology
which is rapidly replacing barcodes as a means of tracking inventory
and indeed any type of item.
RFID tags are typically the
size of a button, or may be credit-card sized. As well as being able
to retrieve data from the tags, it is possible to save data in them.
Informal’s technology is
powerful and unique.
Using an RFID scanner
plugged into a wireless-enabled PDA (e.g. an HP Pocket PC, or a Dell
Axim), Informal’s software can:
a)
scan the RFID tag to retrieve information
b)
relay that information wirelessly (e.g. via 802.11g wireless
Ethernet) to a remote Access Point
c)
receive the data from the PDA using Informal’s Wave Data™
Server
d)
optionally access any type of underlying third party database
(e.g. Oracle, FoxPro, Access, MySQL, or any SQL database)
e)
transmit data from the database back to the PDA to be
displayed on the screen
f)
write data directly into the RFID tag
g)
optionally use its unique and proprietary Wand – a robust and
easy-to-use “scanner on a stick”
Informal has teamed up with
Barrel Trak Systems in the USA to produce a unique product “Barrel
Trak” for the winery industry. This product is now actively selling
into the industry.
Informal is also partnering
with the major US and Japanese RFID companies 3M and Omron to
produce unique, compelling, exciting RFID products. |
