INFORMAL SOFTWARE TO PREVIEW ENOTATE™ FOR THE MACINTOSH PLATFORM AT MACWORLD 2001

First Public Display of enotate for Mac Demonstrates Benefits of Improved Communication and Collaboration for a Variety of Markets
Innovative Electronic "Pen and Paper" Solution for Mac Users Spotlighted in the Palm Pavilion

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (1/9/01) - Informal Software, Inc., a leading provider of innovative software solutions that extend the functionality and usability of PC and Mac-based communication and collaboration applications, today announced that it will provide the first public preview of enotate for the Macintosh platform at Macworld 2001. Informal's enotate software transforms stylus-based, handheld devices into the ideal "fourth peripheral" for the Mac, providing a more natural way to communicate ideas electronically - almost as if pen and paper were being used. Informal Software will demonstrate enotate for Mac in the Palm Pavilion, Booth #1029, January 9-12, 2001, in San Francisco, Calif.

enotate for Mac will be available in Q1 2001 from www.informal.com for an introductory price of $49.99 and will then assume a cost of $69.99. Similar to enotate v1.13 for the PC, which has been shipping since May 2000, enotate for Mac will support the family of Palm connected organizers and Palm OS-based devices, including the Handspring Visor. Future versions of the software will support several leading graphics applications as well as staple Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

"Macworld 2001 is the ideal forum to offer the Apple community a sneak-peek at the next milestone in the continuing electronic communication revolution," said Ian Cullimore, president and CEO of Informal Software. "By providing graphics designers, photography enthusiasts, and general Macintosh users with the unprecedented ability to draw and annotate in real-time using their hand-held devices, we are a step closer to offering innovative, platform-independent software solutions to all computer users."

Macintosh users can get a first-hand look at the benefits of enotate during the seventeenth annual Macworld Conference & Expo, the world's largest and most comprehensive Macintosh OS event, owned and managed by IDG World Expo. Each year, thousands of Macintosh users gather to learn from the extensive conference programs, network with their peers, hear about the leading solutions, test-drive the newest products and services, and purchase the latest technologies designed for the Mac community.

INFORMAL SOFTWARE BRINGS "PEN AND PAPER" TO MACINTOSH USERS

Users of Informal Software's award-winning software will, for the first time, be able to electronically create freehand drawings or mark-up graphics and digital photographs via a stylus-based, handheld device. Informal Software's enotate for Mac provides an ideal outlet for creative expression and improved collaboration while enabling Mac users to work seamlessly across platforms with PC users. enotate for Mac allows users to electronically create freehand drawings or markup graphics and digital photographs via a stylus-based device and exchange the annotated graphics with PC-based co-workers.

By incorporating writing into everyday computing, Informal Software has simplified the communication and collaboration process, making it 100% electronic. enotate software essentially turns the stylus-based device into the electronic equivalent of "pen and paper" and enables it to become a real-time, direct extension of the PC or Mac. Currently, enotate for the PC is compatible with existing PC applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Initial support of the Macintosh platform will enable annotation of graphics and digital photographs with future versions providing support for Microsoft applications.

ABOUT INFORMAL SOFTWARE
Informal Software, Inc., founded in 1998, provides innovative software solutions that extend the functionality and usability of PC and Mac-based applications, as well as simplify communication and collaboration by incorporating writing into everyday computing thereby making the process 100 percent electronic. With enotate, users can naturally and intuitively represent and communicate electronically the true "gist" of information, messages, thoughts and statements using a digital document or image. Unlike pen tablets, drawing/sketching software packages or other pen-based computing solutions, Informal Software's unique "Informal Interface" enables actual electronic writing that is compatible with existing applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to allow business professionals and consumers alike to interact with a personal computer in a more natural and intuitive manner. Informal's enotate is a platform independent application that optimizes handheld devices whether being used at home or at work, transforming them into the ideal "fourth peripheral" for the PC or MAC, sitting alongside the traditional keyboard, mouse, and display. enotate software has been developed for the family of Palm connected organizers, Palm OS devices and Microsoft PocketPC-based handheld computers.
