Latest Version of Innovative PC Application Expands Appeal of the
"Fourth Peripheral" Among Business Professionals
New Features Include Microsoft Excel and Handspring USB Support
SANTA
CLARA, Calif. (10/9/00) - Informal Software, Inc., today
announced the latest version of their award-winning software product
that extends the functionality of PC-based applications by directly
adding the electronic equivalent of "pen and paper." Based
on the initial positive reception of enotate software, Informal
Software has added additional capabilities to enotate v1.2, including
support of Microsoft Excel and the Handspring Visor (both USB and
serial connections) to meet the growing needs of business professionals.
enotate v1.2 is a PC application that enables stylus-based devices
to become true extensions to the PC, turning devices like the Palm
connected organizer into the ideal "fourth peripheral"
for the PC. As a means of leveraging the popularity of key corporate
applications such as Excel and the wide range of Palm handheld devices,
Informal Software's enotate v1.2 will extend the capabilities of
these critical business tools and provide professionals and consumers
alike with an innovative computing solution.
By incorporating "writing" into everyday computing, Informal
Software has simplified communication and collaboration by making
the process 100 percent electronic. New features of enotate v1.2
include support for the Handspring Visor (USB and serial ports),
full color support for the Palm IIIc and gray-scale support for
the Palm Vx and m100, "slide show" support in PowerPoint
and the ability to disable "auto power off" on the Palm
when giving PowerPoint presentations.
For
existing enotate customers, an enotate v1.2 upgrade will be available
at a discounted price that installs all the new features and functionalities
of enotate v1.2 onto the original enotate platform. enotate v1.2
supports the Palm connected organizer, Handspring Visor, IBM WorkPad,
TRG Pro, Microsoft Word 97/2000, Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000, Microsoft
Excel 2000 and digital images in common formats such as JPEG, BMP,
TIFF and PCX. Informal Software's enotate v1.2 and the upgrade will
be available in November 2000 from www.informal.com for $69.95 and
$14.95, respectively.
"The
feedback we've received over the last several months since the initial
launch of enotate has been overwhelmingly positive," said Informal
Software President Ian Cullimore. "Our technology has paved
the way for individuals to electronically communicate in a much
more natural, intuitive and informal manner. This new version of
enotate provides users with the tools needed to maximize the potential
of handheld devices, and with enotate's support of Excel and the
Handspring Visor, we will appeal to a larger audience of business
professionals while taking a step closer to our goal of developing
a ubiquitous 'fourth peripheral' for the PC."
CORPORATE
BENEFITS OF ENOTATE EXPANDED WITH EXCEL AND USB SUPPORT
With
the support of Microsoft Excel and the Handspring Visor USB port,
enotate v1.2 provides the benefits of convenience and increased
productivity to a larger number of business professionals. With
the widespread use and popularity of Excel within the business community,
enotate's support of this mainstream corporate application is the
next step in the product's evolution. In addition to allowing free-hand
sketching/drawing and annotating or marking-up of Microsoft Word
and PowerPoint documents, as well as standard graphics files, enotate
v1.2 enables business professionals to add questions/comments or
editing marks to Excel documents, thus increasing productivity,
enhancing communication and allowing users to take full advantage
of the tools they have at their disposal.
With
support of the USB port as part of the popular Handspring Visor,
enotate v1.2 will appeal to a larger audience of business professionals.
enotate v1.2 is also compatible with the standard serial port, but
Informal Software recognized the advantage of additionally supporting
the high-speed USB port, as graphics, digital photos and the general
performance of the application are enhanced with the use of this
port. Informal Software plans to develop additional versions of
enotate that support new applications and other popular platforms.
