Ischian is closely associated with Informal Software, which was founded by Dr Cullimore in 1996 to bring spin-offs from his PhD research in Human-Computer Interaction t market.

Informal produces software which enables any PDA to be used as a real-time sketching and annotation device for a desktop PC or Mac, using wired or wireless connections.

He has also been working as Chief Technology Officer for the On-Device Portal Dublin-based company Cibenix Ltd, developing ODP client and server solutions for Symbian, Java and Microsoft smartphones, and Linux-based server solutions.
